Your Natchez History Minute is brought to
you by Natchez National Historical Park. American basketball player, Je’Kel Foster
was born on this day, July 22, 1983 in Natchez, Mississippi where he played for Natchez High
School. Foster began his studies at Howard Junior College in Big Spring, Texas where
he helped lead his team to a 30-2 record. He then transferred to Chipola Junior College
at Marianna, Florida to play for coach Chris Jans. While there, Foster was named a 2004
NJCAA Division First Team All-American as well as the 2004 Florida Junior College Player
of the Year. To further his studies, Foster switched to Ohio State University where he
played for the Buckeyes in the NCAA. In 2015, Foster signed a contract to play with Medi
Bayreuth in Germany as a point and shooting guard. Foster has been described as the kind
of player who doesn’t force shots, comes up with loose balls, and does the little things
that are necessary to win. I’m Kristen Gatlin, I’m from Natchez High School
and this has been your Natchez History Minute.
