Jayson Tatum Debuts ‘Power Is Female’ Nike
Kyrie 4 in Game 7 Important messaging on the big stage. As Nike is the middle of a scandal surrounding
bullying and harassment of its female employees and the departure of several executives as
a result, one of its most prominent endorsers has a special pair of sneakers that send a
pro-female message. Tonight, Kyrie Irving’s teammate Jayson Tatum
laced up a new colorway of the Nike Kyrie 4 for Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The aqua and orange colorway is impossible
to miss, but it’s the details that really create intrigue for this pair. Along the sides are phrases such as “Power
is Female” and “We Are a New Generation,” along with a basketball-inspired female logo
on the heel. This isn’t the first time that Irving has
used his sneakers as a showing of solidarity. In his own words, the “Tiffany” Kyrie 3 was
“women empowered.” As of now, it’s not clear whether or not the
“Power Is Female” Kyrie 4 will release, but there is a Light Aqua/Neo Turquoise pair on
the calendar for June 15.
